THIS PAGE IS IN MEMORY OF LENNY OLASKY
I have some tear jerking information to share. I am deeply sorry to learn of the loss of Lenny Olasky. Lenny passed away to vw heaven yesterday 01/24/10. He will be missed dearly by all of us that knew him. We will miss talking and sharing experiences about vws and life.
Lenny was part of the Penn/Ohio VW Enthusiasts, North Coast VW Drag Racing Association and, many others local car clubs.
I know he was definitely looking forward to taking out his 71 Bug and drag race it at Quaker City Speedway this summer. It was just completely overhauled with the help of Darryl Reynolds and has a 2275cc turbo engine that was built byTom Simpson.
I personally wish I could have spent more time with Lenny. I enjoyed some long rides back and forth from different shows and races but my most enjoyable moment was cruising with Lenny in his 71 Bug on December 5, 2009. We had our Penn/Ohio Assoc. and NCVWDRA meeting at Toms Simpsons house. It didnt rain or snow that day but it was 29 degrees out and the car had no heat and we had an hour ride one way!! The intake had icicles and so did our noses but we were just happy to be in the car looking forward to the summer and the fun that was going to be had!!!
I took some photos that day just to get some pics of the car and the engine, but now it looks as those pics might be the last memories we have with him!!!
I was also looking forward to going for a ride with Lenny in his sweet 49 vw. I was going to try to convince him of letting me drive the car with its 25hp engine and mechanical cable brakes.
Please keep him in our prayers and may he rest in peace!!!
I just wanted to say that I'm so very sorry for the loss of our friend, Lenny. I just met him last summer at
the car shows and races and immediately liked him. We will all miss him; he was a very likable guy.
If any one wants to share their memories, send me an email and I will post it. Geno
